An enzyme is a protein molecule that speeds up the body's functions. Enzymes can be used more than once, because they are not changed when the fuel the chemical reaction in the body. When your body has an enzyme present during a chemical reaction the two sugar molecules connect into the enzyme, creating a larger molecule. When your body has no enzyme present, the two small sugar molecules bounce off of each other until they hit at the perfect angle to create a larger molecule.
